ARTIST STATEMENT

I am interested in the underlying structure of a painting, whether the work is abstract or representational. It is a matter of recognizing points of tension and bringing them together through opposition, resonance and reconciliation. Art is part of the human desire to understand the world as an orderly whole, with a fundamental unity. In the end artists must agree with Shelly who wrote, “I am the eye by which the universe beholds itself.”
