 Artist’s Statement
Though I have no formal art training, years of independent art study and practice have given me a solid understanding of painting techniques.

Many of my works have been exhibited locally and are now included in private collections throughout the Northeast.

What moves me to paint a subject? It’s the way light plays with color and the reflective properties of a subject.  If the light isn’t casting a hard enough shadow, or I’m not seeing surrounding color bouncing off elements in a still life setup, then I’m not motivated to put paint to canvas. I want to show the richness in the simplest setting and the textures and temperature of the colors help to convey that.

Examples of my artwork are available to view on my website; www.whitingartwork.com
